Power: enacting the stages of change

Critical stage theatre has, for many years, worked with critical social issues, collaborating with diverse communities to co create unique theatre pieces which aim to bring audiences to view similar objects with different eyes. Critical stage adopts and transforms radical theatre traditions such as theatre of the oppressed, which originated to transform the passive audience into ‘spect-actors’ and psychodrama, which aims to use the techniques of theatre to assist individuals and groups to move through critical cycles of awareness.

In this workshop we combine these approaches with critiques of social power, to enable participants to study and ultimately resist the power dynamics which attempt to constrain our actions.
